Centrally Located And Positioned For Success.
You’ve heard the phrase: “location, location, location.” It’s especially important in business and that’s why Greater Springfield can be an ideal place to locate your company. The fact is, Springfield offers one of the most accessible markets in the United States - with immediate access to Interstate 70 and proximity to I71/I75. We are within 600 miles of 61 percent of the U.S. population and 50 percent of the Canadian population. Also within that radius is 63 percent of all U.S. manufacturers, 70 percent of all North American manufacturing and 80 percent of U.S. Corporate headquarters.
Here’s another way of looking at it: Springfield offers next morning truck delivery to 69 percent of the U.S. population and 74 percent of wholesale sales nationwide. If it has to get there in a timely manner, it can be accomplished from Springfield. That’s why a number of large and small trucking companies and distribution centers have a presence along the major highways in Clark County.
There are other reasons Springfield is well positioned. We are just 45 miles from Columbus and 30 miles from Dayton. That makes for an easy commute by your skilled workforce. Cincinnati is alos just short drive south.
Local and regional airports provide easy air travel to or from the area. Conveneint and cost-effective departures from Dayton and Columbus allow for efficient business travel. Our own Springfield-Beckley Municipal Airport offers both commercial charter and air taxi service. The airport’s 9,000-foot primary and 5,500-foot secondary runway are longer than the typical general aviation municipal airport due to the presence of the Ohio Air National Guard unit. The airport has the capability to land any general aviation aircraft. Many companies also find it advantageous to be located in the shadows of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
All major delivery services operate in Springfield. The Indiana and Ohio and Norfolk Southern railways serve local industry.
Ohio’s infrastructure makes it appealing to a variety of industries. The state ranks first in the nation as an automobile supplier. Ohio is fourth in the number of Interstates, fourth in rail, fourth in the number of airports and more cargo and freight passes on Ohio’s waterways than goes through the Panama Canal on an annual basis.
- Springfield sits at the base of a 60-mile technology triangle from Cincinnati to Dayton and Columbus on Ohio’s Third Frontier technology corridor
- Interstate 70 cuts through Clark County to provide easy access to Columbus and Dayton or routes north and south
- Proximity to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base – 20 minutes from Springfield – affords the opportunity for joint ventures and research cooperation. Wright-Patterson retirees often choose to stay in the area and add to the IT talent pool
