Within 45 minutes of our community are 13 traditional colleges and universities, many among the best in the nation. The Greater Springfield area is home to three prominent colleges - Wittenberg University, Cedarville University and Clark State Community college, with Urbana University just up the road in Champaign county. These vital institutions bring taltented young people into our community and are an invaluable resource of knowledge and involvement with the community.
Within easy commute or relocation are also collegetiate mainstays like Wright State, Central State, Wilberforce, University of Dayton, Antioch, Sinclair Community College in Dayton and Edison Community College. Ohio State is also less than an hour’s drive from downtown Springfield. In fact, the central Ohio area has a major concentration of engineering, technology and science experts.
The community’s primary/secondary system offers diverse choices. Private, parochial and public schools comprise the many options. Springfield boasts many new schools, improving academic performance and a brand new consolidated Springfield High School. Springfield’s new schools are part of the $166 million construction project under the Ohio School Facilities Commission.
The public system is complemented by broader choices like Emmanuel Christian Academy, Central Catholic and Ridgewood School offer execllence academic and extracurricular choices. We also are home to Infusion Campus, an innovative art-based afterschool program. Clark County’s educational options provide a number of excellent rural and small city educational settings.
Applied training and development are a major focus of business, educational and community leaders. School-to-work programs, the Aspire P16 collaborative and joint curruculum planning efforts strive to ensure the right skills are developed within our student body to fill the employment needs of our local businesses, and provide promising careers to citizens..

The WorkPlus Center of Clark County is headquarters for a five-county one-stop system to assist local companies in their hiring needs. Clark State Community College can serve you with traditional or customized training courses.

• The Springfield-Clark Career Technology Center is a vocational high school that serves students from every district in the county, focusing on career goals through hands-on vocational-technical curriculum.
• Apprenticeships and College Tech Prep programs in local high schools prepare students for high-demand careers or furthering their education in a wide range of academic disciplines.
• Project Lead The Way, introduced during the 2007-2008 school year, attracted 68 students from the Springfield City Schools and Southeastern High School as a way to forge a new generation of
engineers. Middle school students enter Gateway to Technology Program.

Adult Education
The many traditional two and four-year colleges in the vicinity offer ways for adults to obtain undergraduate degrees or advanced degrees in ways that meet their schedules.
• Wittenberg University’s School of Community Education is a way for adults and other nontraditional students to engage in both credited and non-credited learning activities.
• Urbana University offered the first nontraditional degree completion program of its kind in the state, serving the needs of the adult learner who has had significant life experiences and previous college credit.
• McGregor School at Antioch College in Yellow Springs offers a degree completion program in addition to Masters degrees in management, social sciences, arts, writing, humanities and education.
